Rugby Luncheon 2013

This year’s Haven Annual Rugby Lunch took place on Friday, March 8th at 12.30 pm in the Four Seasons Hotel, Dublin.

2013 Rugby Lunch Haven paid homage to husband and wife, John Hayes and Fiona Steed two of Irelands (& Munsters!) great Rugby players. Both were awarded the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Irish Rugby’ for their individual contributions.

Hayes won 105 Ireland caps and is famous for being one of the most honest and professional players in the rugby world. Steed retired following the RBS Six Nations in March 2004 having played for Ireland for 10 years. Since then she has coached Nenagh Ormond Women and Munster Women (to 3 consecutive interprovincial titles).  Steed took a break from coaching following the 2009/2010 season but hopes to get back involved in the coming months.

Taking place on the eve of the Ireland-vs- France RBS 6 Nations clash, the energy at the event will be heightened with our MC, former Irish International Jim Glennon.  Joining Jim will be our panel of guests, John Hayes,  Fiona Steed, Paul O’Connell and George Hook.

The Award for Outstanding Contribution to Irish Rugby was presented to Hugo MacNeill in 2011 and Conor O’Shea in 2012.

Paul O Connell, George Hook and Tomas O’Leary are Ambassadors for Haven.  Haven is honoured to have a great link to Irish Rugby and is thankful for the support shown by the Irish rugby community.

Funds from table sales will go to supporting our projects in Haiti where Haven is working tirelessly to support the people of Haiti since the devastating earthquake in January 2010.

Our work in Haiti is dependent on the continued commitment of our many donors and volunteers and it is events such as our Rugby Lunch that assist us to provide the vital services and support to families in Haiti.
